- 1). Click "Start" and launch "Control Panel." Select "System and Security" from the available list of options, followed by "System." Click "Advanced System Settings" from the options to the left of the Control Panel applet.
- 2). Click "Settings" from the "Performance" options. Browse to the "Advanced" tab and click "Change" from the "Virtual Memory" section.
- 3). Enter the desired minimum and maximum amount of virtual memory in the "Initial Size" and "Maximum Size" boxes, respectively. In turn, this will restore any amount of virtual memory you wish your system to use. To allow the system to manage it automatically, select "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives." To restore hard disk space, you may turn off virtual memory levels completely by selecting "No paging file." Click "Set" to apply all changes, followed by "OK."
