- 1). Click the "Start" menu to disable "Indexing," then right-click "Computer," select "Manage" and then "Services and Applications." Select "Services" and right-click "Windows Search," select "Startup type" and make sure you click "Disabled" and "OK."
- 2). Right-click "Computer," then select "Manage," "Services and Applications," "Services," and then right-click "Disk Defragmenter" to disable disk defragmentation. Click the "Start" menu and then select "Startup type: Disabled." Click "OK."
- 3). Right-click "Computer," then Select "Manage," and then "Device Manager" to disable "Write Caching." Choose "Disk drives" and right-click "STEC PATA" to select "Properties." Select the "Policies" tab and uncheck "Enable write caching." Click "OK."
- 4). Right-click "Computer," then "Properties" to disable system restore. Select "Advanced System Settings," and select the "System Protection" tab. Choose "Configure," and then "Turn off system protection." Choose "Delete" and then hit "OK."
- 5). Click the Start menu and then type "cmd" to disable system hibernate. Right-click the cmd icon and select "Run as Administrator." When the dialog box opens, type "powercfg -h off" and then type "exit."
