- 1). Type "date" at the DOS command prompt to run the system date command. If the system also runs Microsoft Windows, you can open the command prompt by typing "cmd" into the "Run" box accessed through the Windows "Start" menu.
- 2). Type in the current date using the date format shown. For example, Dec. 25, 2010, would be entered as 12-25-10 using the U.S. date format (mm-dd-yy). Press "Enter" to store the new date.
- 3). Type "date /t" to verify that the system is using the new date. The /t switch tells the date command to display the date only.
