How to Add a VLK to Windows XP Home

    • 1). Click "Start" then click "All Programs." Open the "Accessories" folder and click on "System Tools." Click the option for "System Restore."

    • 2). Click "Create Restore Point" and then click "Next." On the next screen click "Create." Click "Close" after the creation of a system restore point completes. Always create a restore point before making any changes to the Windows installation, in case the changes corrupt the installation or other files. You can use the restore point to undo any undesirable changes to your computer and restore Windows to a previous state.

    • 3). Download the Windows Product Key Update Tool (see Reference 1). Click "Run" in the dialog box that pops up.

    • 4). Type your volume license key in the boxes and click "Next."

    • 5). Check the "Restart now" box and click "Finish" to complete the process of adding the new key. Allow your computer to restart.

    • 6). Click "Start," select "All Programs," open the "Accessories" folder and click "System Tools." Click "Activate Windows" to activate using your newly entered volume license key.
