How to Fill a Spool on a Brother Sewing Machine

    • 1). Raise the presser foot (where the actual sewing takes place) by flipping the presser foot switch. Find the pressure foot switch above and to the right of the presser foot.

    • 2). Turn the hand-wheel on the right side of the sewing machine toward you until the wheel mark points upward.

    • 3). Press down the lever attached to the spool pin to lift it up. Remove the circular plastic spool cap attached to the spool pin.

    • 4). Insert a new spool onto the spool pin so that the thread exits the spool from the bottom coming toward you. Insert the spool cap onto the spool pin to secure the spool of thread on the pin. Ensure that the spool cap fully covers the side of the spool of thread.
