- 1). Measure around your body just under your arms. Add 3 inches to your measurement. This is the length for your material. Measure from your underarm to the place on your body you want your shirt to fall to. Add 2 inches to your measurement. This is the width.
- 2). Select slightly stretchy material to work with. Ask for assistance from your local sewing or crafting store when purchasing to assure the material is cut to the right size.
- 3). Sew a 1/4-inch seam along the entire length on one side. Sew 1/4-inch seam halfway across the opposite edge, leave 1/2- inch space, then finish the rest of the edge with a 1/4-inch seam. This opening will be the top of your shirt.
- 4). Fold your material in half lengthwise with the wrong sides facing outward. Sew a 1/4-inch seam along the raw edge of the length where the fold meets.
- 5). Thread your crafting cord through the opening in your top seam and completely around the tube of material. Pull the cord through and measure enough to tie around your neck when the shirt is put on.
- 6). Turn your shirt right side out and try on. Tighten the cord to make the top fit around you securely. Tie the cord around your neck to finish.
- 1). Measure across the shoulders and add 2 inches to the measurement. This is your width. Measure from the shoulder to the hips and double the findings. This is your length.
- 2). Sew a 1/4-inch seam completely around your piece of material.
- 3). Fold the material in half lengthwise. Measure in 3 inches from each side and cut a half-moon shape into the fold from the measured points. This makes a hole for the head.
- 4). Fold the material with the wrong sides outward. Measure 6 inches down from the fold. Sew a 1/4-inch seam from this marked point to the bottom of the material.
- 5). Turn the shirt right side out and try on. You may need to close up the arm holes with additional seaming up the side.
