How to Make a Pipe Fox

    • 1). Cut the fur material to the appropriate sizes. When you cut, keep in mind how the fur falls. If you want it to look natural, make sure the fur points down.

    • 2). Fold your faux fur in half with the fur side on the inside.

    • 3). Thread your needle and sew the material ¼ inch or so from the edge along the whole length of the material. When you get inches from the end, taper the tail in until you reach the end. Cut the excess material off.

    • 4). Turn the material inside out. Use a long dowel, wire or equivalent to push the tail end towards the open end. This may be difficult but it is possible, so keep trying until you get it right side out.

    • 5). Flip the other piece of fur over so the fur side is pointing down. Make sure the fur is pointing the right direction. Draw the shape for the fox head. Basically, it will be an upside down triangle (the face) with two smaller triangles on top of it (the ears). The larger triangle should be 3 inches on each side and the smaller triangles should have 1-inch sides.

    • 6). Cut the face out and flip it so the fur is showing. Position the two black beads below the ears a bit. These are for the eyes. Thread a needle and sew the eyes in place.

    • 7). Fold the head in half with the fur on the inside. Sew along the bottom edge, connecting the two lower edges of the larger triangle. Pay special attention to the nose section. Put a few extra stitches there to make it sturdy so the wire does not stick out of the finished product. Turn the head inside out so the fur is pointing out.

    • 8). Line up the open end of the body with the neck section of the head. Start right below one of the ears and sew one side of the head to the body. Stop at this point but leave the thread and needle still attached.

    • 9). Use pliers to fold both ends of the wire so it is not so pointy. Make a "U" or a circle at each end to prevent the wire from readily tearing through the fabric

    • 10

Tear your stuffing into small, workable pieces, about the size of a quarter. Use the dowel or wire to push the pieces of stuffing through the open section of the body towards the end. Try to get a uniform stuffing throughout the whole body.

    • 11

String the wire through the open end of the body to the end of the tail and leave it there. Put a little bit of stuffing into the head. Sew the last little bit of the head and body opening together.
