- 1). Open the "Apple" menu and select "System Preferences." Click on the "Sharing" icon.
- 2). Click on the checked items in the "Service" menu on the left side of the window. These are the sharing services you have enabled. Check the main portion of the window to see what users you have allowed access to each service. Use the access menu to specify which users should have access to the service. If you want to turn off the service, uncheck the box next to it on the menu to the left.
- 3). Click the back arrow in the upper left corner of the window to return to the main "System Preferences" menu.
- 4). Click the "Security" icon and click on the "Firewall" tab.
- 5). Click on the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window. Enter an administrator name and password in the pop-up window.
- 6). Press the "Start" button to turn on the firewall. Leave "System Preferences" by clicking the red circle in the upper left corner of the window.
