- 1). Put on eye protection, and cut a piece of 1/2-inch plywood with a circular saw to the dimensions that will fit your particular space. You can make it any width and depth you like, from 2 by 4 feet to 3 by 5 feet.
- 2). Thoroughly sand the plywood with medium-grit sandpaper to make it smooth on both sides and around the edges. Then, knock off any dust from sanding with a paintbrush.
- 3). Cover the plywood with a vinyl tablecloth of your choosing, stretching it over the whole piece of plywood to ensure that it covers the plywood. Then, take it off.
- 4). Spread glue over the plywood, cover it again with the vinyl tablecloth and cut off any excess with scissors.
- 5). Fasten two to three hinges to the back, underside of the laundry shelf using screws and a screw gun. Then cut two 2-by-4-inch boards to about 3 feet long to form the legs. Fasten two more hinges to the front underside of the shelf, and connect the two 2-by-4-inch boards to the hinges to finish. You can now attach the folding laundry shelf to a wall in the laundry room.
