How to Touch Up Automotive Paint

    Instructions

    • 1). Wash your car thoroughly to remove any dust, debris or dirt from the areas that need touched up.

    • 2). Use alcohol on a soft cloth to remove any wax or oil buildup from the chipped areas on your car. This will ensure the touch up paint will cure well on your vehicle.

    • 3). Apply primer with a cotton swab to the exposed areas needing the touch up paint. Be careful not to get primer on the surrounding paint. Let it dry for approximately 30 minutes.

    • 4). Use the paint applicator to apply matching touch up paint to the chips on your car. Depending on how large the paint chips are, you may need to apply more than one coat of touch up paint. Let each layer dry before applying the next.

    • 5). Apply the clear coat over the touched up areas and let this cure completely. Apply polish or wax on your car to blend the edges of the touched up areas so they are not noticeable.
