- 1). Disconnect the battery from your Jeep Wrangler by undoing the battery terminals.
- 2). Remove the center cap on the steering wheel using a flathead screwdriver; the center cap should pop right off.
- 3). Undo the bolt on the steering column using the socket set.
- 4). Attach the steering wheel puller to the steering wheel according to the instructions that came with it. This allows you to use the steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel.
- 5). Once the steering wheel is removed, put the key in the key lock cylinder (ignition). Turn the key to the on position.
- 6). Inside the steering column at the bottom of the key switch, there is a small pin, which is called a release tang. Push in the tang and it will release the key switch so it can be safely removed.
