- 1). Open the hood by pulling the hood release latch near the bottom left side of the driver's side foot well. Move to the front of the Accord and unlatch the hood by pressing the release lever underneath the hood while lifting the hood upwards. Disconnect the negative terminal cable from the battery.
- 2). Locate the belt tensioner pulley underneath the alternator. Attach a ratchet and socket to the bolt on top of the tensioner pulley and turn the ratchet counterclockwise. Slide the belt off the alternator pulley and release the pulley back into position.
- 3). Locate the wiring harness at the back of the alternator and unplug it from its socket. Remove the positive battery wire from its stud by removing the retaining nut with a ratchet and socket. Slide the wire off of the stud.
- 4). Remove the mounting bolts at the top and bottom of the alternator using a ratchet and socket. Lift the alternator out of the engine bay.
- 1). Maneuver the new alternator into position within the mounting area. Reinsert the bottom mounting bolt by hand to secure the alternator in place. Reinsert the top mounting bolt and tighten both bolts with a ratchet and socket.
- 2). Slide the positive battery wire over the stud at the back of the alternator and secure the wire in place with the retaining nut. Plug the wiring harness into the receptacle at the back of the alternator.
- 3). Turn the belt tensioner pulley counterclockwise and place the belt on the alternator pulley. Release the tensioner pulley and allow it to move back into position. Inspect the belt to make sure it is lined up and routed properly. Reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and close the hood.
