How to Get Rid of the Sidebar in Windows Vista

    • 1). To disable the Vista sidebar, right-click on the sidebar or sidebar icon, and select "Properties."

    • 2). In the Windows sidebar properties window, uncheck the box labeled "Start sidebar when Windows starts." This disables the sidebar from opening upon launching Windows Vista.

    • 3). Right-click the icon in the system tray (bottom right corner or monitor), and select "Exit."

    • 4). To close the sidebar, rather than uninstall it, right-click the sidebar icon in the system tray and then select "Exit." This temporarily closes the sidebar; it will restart when the system is restarted or another user logs on.
