- 1). Ensure that your Silverado's battery is fully charged before connecting the Hypertech programmer to your vehicle. Remove the fuses for the OnStar system, stereo system, alarm system as well as any other aftermarket accessory you may have installed in the vehicle. Refer to your owner's manual for the locations of these fuses. Use a fuse puller to remove the fuses if you have trouble doing this with your fingers.
- 2). Disconnect any accessories plugged into the cigarette lighter and auxiliary power ports located inside the vehicle. Keep the doors of the truck closed to avoid unnecessary noise made by the "door ajar" chime.
- 3). Connect the supplied programming cable to the Hypertech programming unit and then connect the other end of the programming cable to the truck's diagnostic link. The diagnostic link is located on the bottom driver's side portion of the dashboard, between the door and steering column.
- 4). Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, but do not start your truck to initiate the programmer. Refer to the programmer's instruction guide to learn how to perform changes to your Silverado's computer system. Do not turn on the vehicle, leave the vehicle or unplug the programmer until the programming process has completed.
- 5). Disconnect the Hypertech programmer from the vehicle's diagnostic link when you are done with the programming phase. Reinstall all the vehicle fuses you removed and take your truck out for a test run.
