Hyundai Sonata Car Amplifier Installation

    • 1). Lift the hood of the Hyundai to access the battery. Loosen the negative battery cable clamp with the wrench and remove the cable from the negative battery terminal.

    • 2). Loosen the bolt on the positive battery terminal lead and place the ring terminal (from the amp wiring kit) onto the lead post. Tighten the bolt with the wrench to secure the ring terminal lead to the positive lead of the Sonata's battery.

    • 3). Pull the fuse from the fuse holder on the ring terminal. Attach the blue power cable (included in the amplifier wiring kit) to the ring terminal. Feed the cable through the opening in the firewall to the inside of the vehicle. Get inside the Hyundai.

    • 4). Open the glove compartment and remove the screws at the top of the compartment with the screwdriver.

    • 5). Pull the dash trim that spans the entire length of the dashboard away from the dash by hand.

    • 6). Remove the four screws on the bottom of the stereo trim panels with the screwdriver.

    • 7). Remove the dash panels on either side of the dash panels that contain the stereo by pulling them away from the dashboard by hand.

    • 8). Remove the screws on either aside of the stereo dash panel with the screwdriver.

    • 9). Pull the stereo assembly from the dashboard and disconnect the wiring connected to the rear panel of the unit. The wiring will be grouped together by plastic binders. Pull the binders from the stereo and leave the antenna cable connected to the radio.

      Plug there Sonata's stereo wiring binders into the wiring harness adapter. Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the corresponding outlets on the rear panel of the stereo.

      Plug the patch cables from the amplifier wiring kit into the appropriate leads of the wiring harness adapter.

      Feed the patch cables through the back of the Hyundai's stereo-mounting dock and down to the floor area of the Hyundai. The cables will emerge in the passenger's foot-well.

      Slide the stereo assembly back into the stereo-mounting dock. Replace the screws on the sides and at the bottom of the stereo. Replace the panels to the left and right of the stereo and screw in the two screws that secure the panels to the dashboard.

      Route the patch cables from the foot-well of the passenger's side of the Hyundai, down the right side of the vehicle, to the location of the amplifier.

      Route the power supply cable from the driver's side foot-well, to the location of the amplifier.

      Connect the power cable to the outlet labeled "power" on the amplifier.

    • 17

      Plug the patch cables into the corresponding outlets on the amplifier.

    • 18

      Connect the grounding wire (from the amplifier wiring kit) to the amp and to a bolt or screw directly connected to the Sonata's frame.

    • 19

      Connect speaker wires to the amplifier and route them to the speakers you wish to use. Disconnect the speaker wiring and connect a speaker wiring harness to the speaker to connect the wiring from the amplifier. Return to the battery.

    • 20

      Place the negative battery cable clamp onto the negative battery lead of the Hyundai's battery. Tighten the cable's clamp with the wrench. Place the fuse into the fuse holder on the ring terminal (connected to the positive battery lead) and close the Hyundai Sonata's hood.
