How to Add an Auxiliary Connection to a Nissan Versa Factory Radio

    • 1). Raise the Versa's hood, and loosen the bolt on the negative battery cable with a wrench. Remove the cable from the negative battery terminal, and set it aside. Move to the inside of the Nissan.

    • 2). Pry the access panel from the top of the dashboard with a trim panel removal tool. Remove the two screws beneath the panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the dash panel containing the storage compartment and climate vents. Set the panel aside.

    • 3). Remove the two screws on either side of the Versa's stereo with the screwdriver. Slide the unit from the dashboard, and disconnect the stereo wiring from the back of the radio. Plug the stereo wiring into the wiring harness adapter leads, then connect the wiring harness lead connectors to the outlets on the back of the stereo.

    • 4). Plug the FM modulator's lead connectors into the available leads of the wiring harness adapter. You must tap into the signal and power of the stereo for the FM modulator; the wiring harness adapter will allow you to do so without disrupting the connection between the vehicle stereo wiring and the head unit.

    • 5). Place the FM modulator in the right-rear corner of the Versa's stereo dock. Feed the auxiliary cable from the FM modulator into the glove box adjacent to the stereo mounting dock.

    • 6). Slide the stereo back into the stereo dock, and replace the two screws on either side of the unit. Place the dash panel back over the stereo, and replace the two screws at the top of the panel. Replace the panel on top of the Nissan's dashboard, and press against it until it snaps back into place. Return to the battery.

    • 7). Place the negative battery cable back onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the cable's clamp bolt with the wrench, and close the hood.
