- 1). Jack up the truck and place jack stands under the frame. Examine each of the wheels and look for the wiring harness that routes from the truck body to each of the wheels. The anti-lock brake wiring harness is encased in a black, woven mesh to protect the wires inside. Locate the damaged wires.
- 2). Cut the torn section out of the harness. Strip a 1/4 inch of insulation off of each end of the segmented wire, using a wire-stripping tool. Cut 1 inch of shrink-wrap tubing and slid it over the wire. Twist the two wire ends together and use a soldering iron to heat them, then add a small amount of solder to hold them together. Slide the shrink-wrap tubing into place and use a propane torch to shrink the tubing to tightly grip the repaired wiring.
- 3). Pull the woven mesh together to cover the repaired section. Use small black zip-ties to cinch the mesh into place. Snip off the excess tie. This will hold the mesh in place and the black color will blend in.
