- 1). Lift the hood of the vehicle to access the battery. Remove the black cover from the negative battery terminal. Loosen the nut that holds the negative battery cable to the negative lead post with the wrench or pliers. Remove the red battery terminal cover and loosen the positive battery cable clamp. Place the ring terminal from the amp wiring kit onto the positive battery lead. Tighten the bolt, securing the ring terminal to the positive battery lead.
- 2). Remove the fuse from the fuse holder located midway down the ring terminal cable. Connect the blue power supply cable from the amplifier wiring kit to the ring terminal. This cable will carry the direct power source to the amplifier.
- 3). Feed the power cable through the opening in the firewall. If your vehicle does not have access to the vehicle's cabin via the firewall, you will need to create one with a drill. Place rubber grommets in the new opening to guard against damaging the power supply cable.
- 4). Put the amplifier and subwoofer in the trunk or rear cargo area of your vehicle. The amp can be placed under a seat; however, mounting the amp and sub in the same location makes it easier to connect the two.
- 5). Remove the factory stereo. Consult your vehicle repair manual for radio removal instructions. Pull the stereo wiring from the rear panel of the stereo. Leave the black antenna cable connected to the stereo.
- 6). Plug the stereo wiring from your vehicle into the corresponding leads of a wiring harness adapter. Plug the patch cables from the amp wiring kit into the available leads of the wiring harness.
- 7). Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the back panel of the stereo.
- 8). Feed the patch cables through the back of the stereo mounting dock. The cables will emerge from behind the dashboard in the foot well of the passenger's side of the vehicle.
- 9). Return the stereo into the dashboard.
- 10
Run the patch cables down the right side of the vehicle to the trunk or rear cargo area. Route the power supply cable from the battery, from the driver's-side foot well along the left side of the vehicle to the rear cargo area or trunk. - 11
Plug the power supply cable into the outlet labeled "power" on the amplifier. Connect the patch cables to the appropriate outlets on the amp. Connect the grounding wire (included in the amp wiring kit) to the amp. Attach the grounding wire to a screw or bolt near the amp. For proper grounding, use a bolt that is directly connected to the frame of the vehicle, no more than 20 inches from the amplifier. - 12
Connect speaker wiring to the amplifier. Connect the speaker wire from the positive output on the amplifier to the positive input on the subwoofer. Connect the speaker wire from the negative output on the amp to the negative input on the sub. Return to the battery. - 13
Place the negative battery cable back onto the negative battery lead post. Tighten the cable's clamp to the post with the wrench. Place the amp ring terminal fuse into the fuse holder. Close the hood of the vehicle.
