Beaded Ribbon Trim

• 1). Plug in the hot glue gun and insert a hot glue stick. Position the tip of the glue gun over a plate or cardboard; melted glue may seep from the end.
  
  
• 2). Measure the circumference of the top or bottom of the lampshade, wherever you wish to add the ribbon trim.
  
  
• 3). Cut a strand of beaded ribbon to fit the lampshade circumference.
  
  
• 4). Apply a bead of hot glue to one section of the underside of the lampshade at the top or bottom rim. Begin the glue bead at the back side of the shade. Press the un-beaded strip at the top of the beaded ribbon trim into the glue. To add trim to the top of the shade, make sure that the bead section of the trim falls outside of the top of the lampshade.
  
  
• 5). Work your way around the circumference of the lampshade, adding the hot glue and then pressing the ribbon in place. If you added the beaded ribbon trim to the bottom of the lampshade, the beads will dangle beneath the shade. The beaded trim around the top of a lampshade lies against the shade.
  
  

Plain Ribbon Trim

• 1). Cut a strip of 5/8-inch wide plain ribbon to measure 1/2 inch longer than the circumference of the lampshade.
  
  
• 2). Cover a flat work surface with wax paper. Place the cut ribbon strip face down on the wax paper.
  
  
• 3). Cover the back of the ribbon strand with spray adhesive.
  
  
• 4). Center the width of the ribbon strand over the top or bottom rim of the lampshade; position the end of the ribbon strand on the back side of the shade. Press the ribbon onto the face and the underside of the shade. Overlap the ends. Hold the ribbon in place with clothes pins overnight.
