- Your system will display an error message entitled, "Memory Overflow Error," if the processor finds that more data is being sent to it for processing than the processor has memory to store it.
- If your computer gives you a memory overflow error after upgrading your RAM, it means that the motherboard is not recognizing the memory you've added. Try turning off your computer, opening up the case, and inspecting the slots you plugged the RAM into to ensure the connection is snug.
- When installing anything on your computer's motherboard, it is important to ground yourself first, as bursts from static electricity can damage circuit boards. If there are burn marks on the RAM modules, you may have irreparably damaged the module.
