- 1). Raise your 2001 Jeep's hood and loosen each bolt holding the separate battery cables to their respective battery terminal posts with a 10-mm socket wrench. Lift the negative battery cable from the terminal and set it aside. Lift the positive cable from the battery and place the amplifier wiring kit's ring terminal onto the post.
- 2). Replace the positive battery cable clamp onto the positive battery terminal and tighten the cable's bolt with the wrench. Remove the fuse from the fuse holder on the ring terminal. Plug the multi-amp power cable into the ring terminal. The multi-amp cable is thicker than the usual cable used to power the aftermarket amp.
- 3). Feed the power cable through the firewall and into the Jeep's passenger cabin. If you cannot locate the path through the firewall into the Grand Cherokee's interior, use a drill to create a new opening. Place a rubber grommet into the new hole to prevent the edge of the firewall opening from damaging the power supply cable. Feed the cable through the protected hole and into the Jeep's passenger cabin. Move to the inside of the vehicle.
- 4). Slide the trim panel removal tool into the crease of the trim panel surrounding the stereo deck, adjacent to the climate control vents. Pry the panel free from the dashboard and set it aside. Remove the two screws on either side of the factory stereo with a Phillips screwdriver and slide the factory stereo head unit from the mounting dock.
- 5). Unplug the stereo wiring connectors from the outlets on the rear panel of the Jeep's factory stereo deck. Plug the stereo wiring connectors into the wiring harness adapter leads. The adapter will provide the necessary connection points for the amplifier signal and turn-on lead cables.
- 6). Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the back of the stereo. Connect the signal and turn-on lead cable connectors to the corresponding wiring harness adapter leads. Follow the color-code on the adapter's leads for guidance to the appropriate connection points.
- 7). Feed the signal and turn-on lead wiring through the back of the Grand Cherokee's mounting dock and down to the floor on the Jeep's passenger side. Replace the stereo into the dashboard dock and screw in the two screws on either side of the unit. Place the dash panel against the dashboard and press firmly to snap it back into place.
- 8). Route the power cable to the rear cargo area of the Jeep. Route the signal cable and turn-on lead cable along the opposite side of the Jeep to the rear cargo area.
- 9). Plug the power supply cable into the power coupling. Connect the two 4-gauge power cables to the coupling and route them individually to the respective amplifiers. Plug the power cables into the power inputs on the amps. Connect the signal cable and turn-on lead to one of the two amplifiers in the cargo area.

Plug the RCA cables into the RCA output on the same amplifier you connected the signal cable. Connect the RCA cables to the RCA input on the other amp. Connect the grounding points on each amplifier to a screw or bolt in the rear cargo are of the Jeep. Choose a screw or bolt for each amplifier grounding wire -- included in the amp wiring kit -- directly connected to the Grand Cherokee's frame. Return to the Jeep's engine compartment. - 11
Place the negative battery cable clamp onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the bolt on the cable's clamp with the wrench. Place the fuse into the ring terminals fuse holder and close the Grand Cherokee's hood.
