Make several suncatchers out of old CDs and hang in a tree or to add sparkle to your patio. You can either glue two CDs together, shiny side out, and then tie ribbon or string through them to loop three or four together. Or you can make single suncatchers by attaching glitter contact paper to the non-shiny side and decorate with sparkly contact paper cutouts. Tie a ribbon through and hang at different levels. When they spin, beautiful reflections abound. - Make a suncatcher out of translucent beads and wire.Jupiterimages/Polka Dot/Getty Images
Glam up any window with a beaded suncatcher. Pick 25 to 30 of your favorite colors of sparkly translucent beads, thread and secure them about one inch apart with 2-1/2 feet of 20-gauge wire, then wrap around a small spice or medicine bottle to form a spiraling egg shape. Remove the bottle and hang with fishing wire. - Thread chandelier crystals or glass prisms to make suncatchers for a sunny window.Jeffrey Hamilton/Photodisc/Getty Images
One of the prettiest suncatchers is a prism suncatcher. Use old chandelier crystals or purchase glass prisms at an antique store. Tie them with fishing wire and hang them at different levels in a window that gets lots of sun. The sun will make light dance across the walls in beautiful patterns. - Shave crayons onto waxed paper, iron, cut out shape and hang.BananaStock/BananaStock/Getty Images
Add color to a cold gray day with a simple suncatcher. Tear off a piece of waxed paper about 6-to-8 inches long. Use a pencil sharpener or table knife to make crayon shavings on the wax side. Place another piece of waxed paper on top, with the wax sides together. Iron with a warm iron until the wax and crayons stick together. Cut it into whatever shape you want. Butterflies or hearts are just a couple of ideas. String a ribbon through a small hole in the top and hang. Add a colored construction paper frame in the same shape if you want.
