- 1). Turn the tank's air knob clockwise to the "open" position to bleed the air from your SCUBA cylinder. The air will make a loud noise as it escapes the valve.
- 2). Take the SCUBA valve off with your adjustable wrench. Turn it counterclockwise at the base of your valve to open it. Before you open it, position it away from people in case there is built-up pressure. The valve could pop out.
- 3). Apply liquid wrench onto your valve if it won't come off. Let it work its way into the valve for 5 to 15 minutes. Try opening the valve again with the wrench. Be careful not to strip the inside threads.
- 4). Put the tank upside-down in a sink after you open the valve. Allow water and dirt to escape your tank.
- 5). Plug the Christmas lights in. Put them into the tank. Look at the bottom and around the sides. Find anything that might disturb the tank. Gummy objects that cling to the sides, discoloration and water around the bottom of the tank should be removed.
- 6). Fill the tank with soft, hot water. Swoosh it around for 5 minutes.
- 7). Set the tank upside-down for a few hours. You could also blow-dry the tank with an air compressor. You should have a clean and dry tank now.
- 8). Screw the valve back on top of your tank. Lightly hammer any gap with a rubber mallet to close it.
