- 1). Remove your shower curtain from the shower. Fill the washing machine with warm water and the regular amount of heavy-duty laundry detergent. Add 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup white vinegar to the water.
- 2). Place your shower curtain in the washing machine with two large towels. The baking soda and vinegar will work to remove the soap scum from your shower curtain as it washes.
- 3). Hang-dry your shower curtain outdoors, if possible, until it's completely dry. Bring your shower curtain inside and lay it on the floor with the side of the curtain that faces the inside of your shower facing up.
- 4). Pour lemon oil, used to polish wood furniture, onto a clean cloth. Rub the lemon oil into the surface of your shower curtain. Lemon oil will repel water and soap scum, preventing your shower curtain from developing soapy film.
