- 1). Tape off any areas around the aluminum trim. Use masking tape, which will safely adhere to and remove from car paint without causing damage.
- 2). Spray a buffing pad with aluminum polish. Both of these items can be found at any auto supply store.
- 3). Rub the buffing pad over the aluminum trim, using small round buffing motions to buff and polish the aluminum surface. Spray the aluminum polish onto the buffing pad after every few swipes, and continue until all trim has been polished to your satisfaction.
- 4). Buff heavy residue with a fine grain steel wool. This will remove residue, as well as any scratches on the aluminum trim. Spray a mist of aluminum polish onto the steel wool while buffing for an extra polishing element.
- 5). Wipe the trim once more with a buffing pad misted with aluminum polish.
- 6). Remove the masking tape and discard it.
