How to Change the Lower Radiator Hose in an Impala SS

    • 1). Drive your Impala SS onto a set of ramps to gain ground clearance to access the lower radiator hose. Apply the emergency break to keep the vehicle from rolling off the ramps while you work on it.

    • 2). Place a catch can or a bucket under the radiator drain located on the lower left-hand side of the radiator. Open the drain by turning it counterclockwise with a pair of pliers.

    • 3). Remove the retaining clamp that holds the hose onto the radiator with a flat-head screwdriver and then pull the hose off the radiator. Drain the fluid from the radiator hose into the bucket.

    • 4). Remove the retaining clamp that secures the radiator hose onto the engine block with a flat-head screwdriver and pull the radiator hose off of the engine block. Drain the fluid from the engine block into the bucket.
