How to Speed Up Netscape Navigator

    Increase the Number of Connections

    • 1). Open Netscape Navigator.

    • 2). Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and click on it, then click "Options" and "Network Connections." This will open your "Preferences" window.

    • 3). Select the "Connections" tab by clicking on it. Enter the number of connections you want in the blank field indicated. The default is four so you want to choose more than that to make sure Netscape Navigator is faster than the default.

    Clean the Cache

    • 1). Open Netscape Navigator.

    • 2). Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Options." Click on "Privacy."

    • 3). Click on the button next to "Cache" that reads "Clear." This will clear the history of websites you've visited from the cache and allow your Netscape Navigator to run faster.

    Increase the Network Buffer Size

    • 1). Open Netscape Navigator.

    • 2). Click on the "Tools" drop-down menu.

    • 3). Select "Options," then "Network Preferences," and finally the "Connections" tab.

    • 4). Enter a larger network buffer size in the space indicated. The default is 32K, so you will want to choose a larger size than that in order to speed up Netscape Navigator.

    Get Rid of Images

    • 1). Open Netscape Navigator.

    • 2). Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and click on it.

    • 3). Click on "Options."

    • 4). Remove the check mark next to "Auto Load Images." This means that your websites will load minus the images. If you don't mind not having any pictures this can significantly speed up your Netscape Navigator.
