- 1). Choose a crochet hook to create your scarf. Any size will suffice, although a larger crochet hook will create a looser scarf with larger holes and a smaller hook will result in a tightly woven scarf.
- 2). Loop the yarn on your crochet hook and draw the end through, creating a slip knot. Pull the slip knot tight, leaving a little slack on the hook.
- 3). Chain 31. This will be the width of your scarf. If you desire a wider or thinner scarf, adjust the amount of chains accordingly.
- 4). Create a single crochet in the third chain from the hook. This begins the first row. Continue crocheting single crochets along the rest of the row. Chain one to make the ends even between rows.
- 5). Turn your scarf to work in the opposite direction and begin the second row. Create a single crochet in each single crochet in the previous row. Chain one and turn your scarf.
- 6). Continue crocheting rows onto the scarf, every stitch being a single crochet. For example, every row will be filled with single crochets. Chain one and turn your scarf at the end of each row. Create as many rows as needed to reach the desired length of the scarf.
- 7). Add tassels to the ends of the scarf. Cut six 8-inch strands of yarn. Fold the strands in half, creating a loop.
- 8). Insert the crochet hook into the first stitch on one end of the scarf. Grab the loop with the hook and pull it back through the stitch. Widen the loop as needed to ensure that a knot can easily be made.
- 9). Push the crochet hook back through the loop and grab all of the strands. Pull the strands back through the loop, creating a slip knot. Pull the slip knot tight in the stitch. Arrange the tassels so the strands sit evenly.

Work along both edges of the scarf, creating one tassel in each of the 31 chain stitches.
