How to Remove the Stock Stereo From a 2001 Honda Civic

    • 1). Disconnect the trim panel around the parking brake panel by pulling it up to remove the clips that hold it in place. Unscrew the Phillips-head screws on the side of the console using the Phillips-head screwdriver. Move the center console back toward the rear seat as much as possible.

    • 2). Unscrew the two Phillips-head screws located underneath the power outlet panel using the Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull out the power outlet panel using the hook tool, then unplug the wiring in the back and set it to the side.

    • 3). Place the hook tool between the bezel around the radio and the dashboard and pull it toward you to release the clips holding it in place. Pry the rest of the panel off of the dashboard. Once the panel is off of the dash, disconnect the electrical harnesses on the back of the deck and a/c controls using your hands.

    • 4). Remove the screws holding the climate control knobs on the left side of the bezel off of the bezel using the Phillips-head screwdriver. Then unscrew the radio from the brackets on the sides of the bezel using the Phillips-head screwdriver.
