- 1). Snap a line with your chalk snap line, dividing the floor in half. Snap a second line, dividing it in half in the perpendicular direction, with the two lines intersecting at the center of the floor. Lay a carpenter's square at the intersection as you snap the second line to ensure it is exactly 90 degrees off the first one where they meet at the middle.
- 2). Use a notched trowel to apply parquet tile adhesive over the middle of the floor. Cover a few square feet at the intersection. The lines will still be visible through the adhesive.
- 3). Set a parquet tile into the adhesive at the intersection, in one of the four corners created by the lines.
- 4). Set more tiles around the first one, locking them together via the tongue-and-groove milling at the sides of the tiles and pressing them into the adhesive. Build out from the center toward the walls in a grid pattern, spreading more adhesive as needed.
- 5). Continue tiling until you've laid all the full tiles that will fit, leaving spaces around the edges of the floor where the full tiles won't fit. Let the full tiles set overnight.
- 6). Return and cut parquet tiles for the edges of the floor, using a table saw. Set them in adhesive with the cut sides facing the walls. Let them set overnight.
