- 1). Install the auxiliary handle. This will give you extra control and reduce fatigue in this masonry application. The handle can be mounted on the left or right. It sticks out at a right angle from the drill.
- 2). Insert a carbide-tipped masonry bit into the chuck. Lock the direction of rotation switch by placing it into the center position. Open the jaws of the chuck by grasping the chuck and turning it clockwise (looking at the snout). Insert the bit and tighten the chuck.
- 3). Install the battery pack.
- 4). Set the direction of rotation. In this case, it would be the forward setting.
- 5). Slide the mode switch or button to the hammer setting. If there's a speed setting, set it to the medium speed.
- 6). Hold the drill firmly with both hands and position the bit at the location in the foundation wall that you want to drill.
- 7). Start the drill and use light pressure to begin with to get a feel for the concrete. Increase the pressure and drill into the concrete.
