How to Uninstall Microsoft Service Pack 2

    Windows Vista

    • 1). Close all open programs. Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel." Click "Uninstall a Program" under "Programs." This launches the programs window. Alternately, launch the programs window by clicking the Windows "Start" menu, typing "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes) in the "Start Search" box and pressing "Enter."

    • 2). Scroll down the programs window and click "Microsoft Windows Service Pack 2 (KB948465)." Click "Uninstall" and follow the guided prompts to complete the Service Pack 2 uninstallation.

    • 3). Restart your computer to complete the removal process.

    Windows XP

    • 1). Close all open programs. Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel."

    • 2). Double-click "Add or Remove Programs." This launches the programs list. Place a check on the "Show updates" check-box located on the programs window.

    • 3). Select "Windows XP Service Pack 2" and click "Remove." Follow the guided prompts to complete the uninstallation. Restart your computer.
