Homemade Photo Books

    • 1). Cut 2 pieces of cardboard 13 inches tall by 14 inches long.

    • 2). Place the cut pieces of cardboard on a flat surface.

    • 3). Measure 1 inch in from the left side of the 14 inch side and place a mark at the top and bottom of the cardboard.

    • 4). Line up the ruler with the 2 marks, and cut about half way through the cardboard.

Cut both of the pieces of foam core board the same way.

    • 5). Cut a 2 pieces of contact paper in the first color 14 inches wide by 13 inches high. Measure1 inch away from both sides of each corner, and place a mark. Draw a line from 1 dot to the other in each corner to create a triangle. Cut the line to remove the triangle.

    • 6). Peel the coating off of the adhesive side, and lay the paper on the flat surface with the sticky side up. Center the cardboard on top of the contact paper with the cut slit facing away from the adhesive side of the contact paper, and press it onto the contact paper. Fold the edges around the sides to the back. Make sure you press the edges together smoothly. Do this step to both of the cardboard pieces.

    • 7). Cut 2 pieces of contact paper 12 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches long.

    • 8). Peel the coating off of the adhesive side, and press the contact paper into the center of the covers on the side that shows the cardboard. This will cover the cardboard, and neaten the edges on the sections folded from the front.

    • 9). Glue some ribbon around the edges to neaten up the edges if they still look a little bit messy. This will give the scrap book a neater look.

Measure down 1 1/2 inches from the top of the left 13 inch side, and place a mark. Measure up from the bottom 1 1/2 inches of the left 13 inch side, and place a mark. Place a mark every inch between these 2 marks, and then cut a hole on each mark with the hole puncher. Make sure the holes are at least 1/2 inch away from the left edge.

    • 11

Measure in 1 inch from the left edge of the cover on the side with 2 colors of contact paper, and cut a slit through the contact paper. Do not cut all the way through the cardboard. This slit should be directly on the slit you cut in the cardboard earlier. This will allow the scrapbook to open. Do this procedure to both the front and back cover pieces.

    • 12

Place one of the 13 inch by 12 inch pieces of paper on the flat surface. Measure from the top of the left side. Place a mark every inch all the way to the end of the page. Punch a hole on each mark with the hole puncher. Make sure it is at least 1/2 inch away from the left edge. Use this page as a template to mark the other pages. Mark the other pages, and punch out the holes.

    • 13

Stack the papers. Make sure you line up all of the holes.

    • 14

Place the stack of papers inside the cover with the holes lined up on the edge of the side you cut with the sheet rock ripper.

    • 15

Thread the ribbon through the holes in the scrapbook to hold it together. Start threading the ribbon through the book at one end of the cover. Stitch the ribbon into the first hole all the way through the book, and then go into the second hole. Cut the ribbon. Leave about 5 inches of ribbon hanging out each hole, and tie the 2 ends of the ribbon into a knot with a bow. That way you can remove the ribbon to add more paper later. Once the ribbons are tied, you are ready to start scrap booking.
