- 1). Put your XP installation CD into your disc drive and restart your computer. Press any key during the boot up process when the disc prompts you, to boot from the disk instead of the hard drive.
- 2). Press "Enter" to begin Windows XP setup. Press "F8" to accept the Windows XP license agreement.
- 3). Choose your existing Windows XP installation partition. Press "D" to delete this partition, and "C" to create a new partition in its place. Select the new partition and press "Enter." Choose "Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick)." Press "Enter." You'll see a format progress bar, as well as a file copy progress bar. Once both processes are complete, the installer restarts your computer.
- 4). Click "Next." Follow the configuration prompts to set up your Windows XP clean installation, providing the 25-digit product key so you can confirm you're installing a genuine copy of Windows XP.
