- 1). Crochet a baby blanket. Begin with a starting chain that is as wide as you want your blanket to be; approximately 36 inches is a good start. Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and every chain across, then chain one and turn. Single crochet evenly across every row (this means you will make one single crochet in every stitch across the row, then chain one and turn) until your blanket measures approximately 45 inches long. Fasten off, cut your working yarn, and weave in your loose ends with a large-eye blunt needle.
- 2). Crochet a baby hat. Make four starting chain stitches and join them with a slip stitch to form a circle. Chain one and make five single crochet stitches inside the circle, then join with a slip stitch. Chain one and make two single crochets in every stitch around; join with a slip stitch. Chain one and make two single crochets in the first stitch followed by two in the next; repeat this pattern around and join with a slip stitch. Chain one and make one single crochet in every stitch around; repeat this round until the hat reaches its desired size. Finish off, cut your working yarn, and weave in your ends using a large-eye blunt needle.
- 3). Crochet a pair of booties. Make 37 starting chains, and single crochet in the second chain from the hook and every chain across. Chain one and turn, then single crochet evenly across the next few rows until you reach a height of 3 inches. On the next row, chain one and turn and then slip stitch in the first eight stitches. Chain one and single crochet across the center 20 stitches, leaving the last eight stitches unworked. Single crochet evenly across these 20 stitches for three more inches, then fasten off. Fold the bootie in half with right sides together, then whipstitch down the seam using your large-eye blunt needle and a spare length of yarn. Turn right-side out for wearing. Repeat for the second bootie.
- 4). Crochet a set of baby washcloths. Use a worsted-weight organic cotton yarn for this project so the washcloths will be soft enough for baby's delicate skin. Make a starting chain of 46, then single crochet in the second chain from the hook and every chain across. Chain one and turn, then single crochet evenly across every row until the washcloth is as tall as it is wide. Finish off and weave in your loose ends, then make two to four more washcloths for a set.
