How to Recover Lost Allocation Units in a Windows XP System

    • 1). Click "Start" and click "Run."

    • 2). Type "cmd" and press "Enter."

    • 3). Type "chkdsk x:" and press "Enter," replacing "x" with the letter of the drive with missing allocation units. This will scan your drive for problems.

    • 4). Type in "chkdsk x: /f" and press "Enter" if problems are found during the scan. This will repair your drive.
