- 1). Open up the hood of your Honda and disconnect the negative battery cable by removing the clamp from the negative battery terminal.
- 2). Enter the driver's seat of your vehicle and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the fuse panel cover in place. The fuse panel is found on the low end of the driver's-side dash. Locate the air bag fuse and disconnect it. This will prevent the air bags from deploying when you try to remove them.
- 3). Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the steering wheel cover away from the connectors found around the wheel. Place the cover in a safe area for reattachment later.
- 4). Lift the air bag out of the steering wheel. Follow the air bag wiring with your hands and disconnect them from the electrical connector in the center of the wheel. Insert the new air bag into the steering wheel and connect the electrical wiring in the center of the wheel. Reattach the steering wheel cover.
- 5). Move over to the passenger side of the front seats. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the glove compartment in place. Remove the glove compartment to gain access to the air bag above the compartment.
- 6). Use your hands to unhook the air bag's electrical wiring from the wiring harness in the dash and lift the air bag from the dash.
- 7). Insert the new air bag into the dash and connect the electrical wiring to the dash wiring harness. Place the glove compartment back below the air bag and secure it in place by attaching the screws.
- 8). Reattach the air bag fuse in the fuse panel and place the cover back over the panel. Secure the panel in place by attaching the screws. Reconnect the negative cable on the battery terminal.
