How to Replace Missing System Files

    • 1). Insert the "Windows 7 DVD" into your DVD drive. Once the "Windows 7 DVD" starts, choose "Exit" and close any other open programs.

    • 2). Press the "Start" button and navigate to the "All Programs" icon, select "Accessories" and then right-click the "Command Prompt" icon.

    • 3). Press "Run as administrator." If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password or choose the "Allow" option.

    • 4). Type "sfc /scannow" at the command prompt and press the "Enter" key.

    • 5). Allow the process of scanning and restoring system files to complete. If any files need replacing, the System File Checker will replace them.

    • 6). Confirm you have a successful scan by waiting for the message, "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations" to appear on screen.
