How to Make an Origami Cardinal

    • 1). Fold the paper diagonally to form a triangle. Fold two adjacent sides of a square inward to the center crease of the square. Unfold the paper and fold it diagonally in the opposite direction to form a triangle. Now fold the two adjacent sides of the same triangle inward to the center crease. Fold the first side, unfold it and then repeat it for the second side.

    • 2). Fold the triangle on the crease formed by the two adjacent sides of the triangle. This forms a slightly smaller triangle than the triangle formed by the diagonal folding of the square paper. Now the upper half is a smaller triangle and the lower half is a bigger triangle. Fold the two sides of the upper triangle inward to the center crease. Now you get the upper portions of the lower triangle as an extension on both sides. Fold these extensions outward. Again repeatedly fold both sides of these extensions inward to the center crease, twice. Adjust and fold the other areas that get affected by the folding. Now the legs of the bird are ready.

    • 3). Fold the entire structure in the middle. Now there are two triangles, one on the other with an extension. Fold the upper part of the triangle outward to look like the neck of the cardinal. Fold it once again to form the head with a beak.

    • 4). Fold the lower portion of the triangle first inward and then outward to form the body. Stretch the two extensions formed on the body to the maximum on both sides to appear like wings.
