- 1). Hold a ruler up to one of the links of the charm bracelet. Measure the link's diameter in mm.
- 2). Obtain an open jump ring--a small metal ring that opens and closes and is used to connect jewelry components. Find jump rings at jewelry supply stores, bead shops or online vendors such as firemountaingems.com or thebeadman.com.
- 3). Select a jump ring that is the same size as the existing links of the charm bracelet. Jump rings are generally organized by the sizes of their diameters in mm, and cost approximately 50 cents each, depending on the material with which they are made. Buy a jump ring in the same type of material as the rings on your charm bracelet, such as sterling silver or gold.
- 4). Unfasten the clasp of your charm bracelet and lay the bracelet out on a flat surface such as a table.
- 5). Pick up one end of the clasp and see where it is attached to the last link of the bracelet. Use round-nose pliers to open the small ring that attaches the clasp to the bracelet link. Remove the small ring and clasp, leaving the last bracelet link.
- 6). Open the jump ring you purchased using the round-nose pliers. Slip the opened jump ring onto the last bracelet link. Close the jump ring. You have now added a link.
- 7). Reattach the clasp to the charm bracelet. Slip the small ring of the clasp through the new link. Close the small ring of the clasp with pliers.
