How to Install a BDS Jeep Lift

    • 1). Park the Jeep on a level surface. Raise the Jeep off the jack stands using the jack. Place jack stands underneath the front and rear axles as well as the frame. Take off the wheels with the tire iron.

    • 2). Sit in front of the front axle. Locate the track bar, which runs from the driver's side of the steering to the passenger side of the axle. Remove the track bar using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Unbolt the sway bar end links from the axle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Unbolt the shocks from the front suspension with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench.

    • 3). Lift the front axle up slightly and then take out the jack stands from under the axle. Lower the axle until you can pull the coil springs out from the front suspension. Drill a hole in the middle of the lower coil spring mount using the drill and a 3/8-inch drill bit.

    • 4). Put the bump stop spacer included in the lift kit into the middle of the stock front coils. Place the spacer from the lift kit onto the top of the spring with your hands. Reinstall the assembly into the front suspension, guiding the stud on the bump stop spacer into the hole you just drilled into the axle. Bolt the bump stop spacer to the axle with an open-end wrench and the hardware from the kit.

    • 5). Reinstall the shocks on the front suspension with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Reinstall the track bar and the sway bar end links with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Reinstall the front wheels with the tire iron.

    • 6). Sit in front of the rear axle. Unbolt the rear track bar from the axle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Remove the rear shocks from the frame and suspension with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Unbolt the sway bar end links from the axle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench.

    • 7). Unbolt the brake line brackets located above the sway bars from the frame with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the axle off the jack stands with the jack and then pull out the rear axle's jack stands. Lower the axle so you can pull the rear coils out of the suspension. Install the spacer from the kit onto the top of the coil springs, then reinstall the springs in the suspension. Lift the axle back up with the jack and reinstall the shocks using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench.

    • 8). Reinstall the sway bar end links and the brake line brackets using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Install the bump stop spacers from the kit onto the axle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Reinstall the rear wheels with the tire iron and lower the Jeep off the jack stands with the jack.
