- Cheer is available in a liquid or powder form. The liquid form tends to work better on oil and grease stains, but the powder form works better on dirt and mud.
- Since its inception in 1951, Proctor and Gamble has released several different products including a separate detergent for dark colors, a bleach alternative and several different scents.
- Cheer can be recognized for its distinct blue granules. The product has been marketed to clean clothes in all temperatures of water (All Temperature Cheer) and to protect against fading colors (Cheer Colorguard).
- In 2009 Proctor and Gamble reduced the price of Cheer by 13% to make the laundry detergent more competitive with generic laundry detergents. A 50-ounce bottle of Cheer that can wash 32 loads of laundry has a suggested retail price of $13.99.
- A popular spokesperson for Cheer is Rose Spires, the Cheer Laundress. Spires uses the term "dingies" to refer to dull, faded colored clothes.
