- An adaptive menu is characterized by the way it displays the menu options. It displays only certain default options, and once you start using it, the options you use most often. The rest of the options are hidden unless you select the button at the bottom or hover over the menu for two seconds.
- Adaptive menus are descended from older menus types--adaptable and static menus. Static menus are preprogrammed and not changeable. The user must learn to work with the existing menus. Adaptable menus can be changed by the user, who can add certain options offered by the program and change the appearance of the menu with colors or fonts. Both of these menus display all options when they are opened.
- If you are more familiar with the older types of menus, an adaptive menu can be difficult to get used to. Luckily, there are ways to disable adaptive menus if you don't like using them. Go to the Tools option in the top menu bar. Select "Customize" and choose the Options tab in the pop-up. Disable the check in the box next to "Show full menus after a short delay" and your full menu will show from the beginning.
