- 1). Sketch the outline of one side of your case on the cardboard. The front dimensions should be 9.8 inches tall and 7.6 inches wide, regardless of model.
- 2). Cut out the first side of the case, then trace around it on the remaining piece of cardboard. Cut out this shape so you have a front and back to your iPad case.
- 3). Place the fabric on a flat surface, then trace around the front or back cardboard case piece. Add about half an inch to both the vertical and horizontal dimensions, then cut out the fabric. Repeat this step to complete two fabric case covers.
- 4). Glue the fabric onto the outside of both cardboard pieces, wrapping the fabric around the edges.
- 5). Cut out four strips of cardboard about an inch wide, to attach the two case sides together. For the iPad 1, make the strips 0.9 inches long. For the iPad 2, cut strips 0.7 inches long.
- 6). Bend the strips, then glue one end of each strip to the top case piece where the fabric meets the cardboard. Glue one strip on the left and right sides, and two strips on the bottom an equal distance apart. This leaves room at the top to slide the iPad in and out. Allow the strips to dry completely.
- 7). Glue the free end of each strip to the bottom case piece, each in the same position.
