How to Replace Rear Shocks on a 2002 Honda Odyssey

    • 1). Raise the rear end off the ground, and support the rear frame on jack stands. Place one jack stand under the rear axle, one on each side.

    • 2). Remove the lower bolt on each rear shock, using the ratchet and socket. Pull the washers from the shock, as well. Remove the upper bolt from the rear shock, and pull the washers from the shocks. Allow the axle to rest on the jack stands.

    • 3). Pull the shocks from the fittings and off the rear axle. Place the new shocks into the fittings. Place a new washer on each side of the mounting holes.

    • 4). Insert the bolts into the mounting holes to secure the shocks in place. Tighten the bolts to 54.6 foot-pounds, using the torque wrench.

    • 5). Raise the frame off the jack stands, and remove them. Lower the van to the ground.
