- Fall is the perfect time for making some apple crafts with your kids. Apple crafts are a good way to commemorate apple picking season and Johnny Appleseed. These apple art projects can be used to decorate your house for fall. They give kids with something constructive to do as the weather turns colder and provide a fun way for you to spend some quality time with your children.
- Use apples to make your own stamps. Parents will need to help with the cutting, but once the apples are cut, this easy craft can be fun for kids of all ages. Cut apples in half and dip them in paint. Dab them onto a paper towel or extra piece of paper to get off any excess paint and them stamp away. Stamp large piece of white paper to be used as wrapping paper or small paper sacks to use as gift bags. Kids can also fold card stock in half and stamp the front to make apple greeting cards or just cut around the apple stamps to make apple gift tags. For different stamping patterns vary the way you cut the apples.
- There are lots ways that kids can decorate large apple shapes to make different apple crafts. Cut apple shapes out of white construction paper or card stock to decorate. Some fun decorating ideas include using small sponges and tempera paints or finger paints to paint the apples. Kids can also tear up pieces of red, green or yellow construction paper and use glue to cover the apples with them. Squares of colored tissue paper will work too. Once the glue dries you might need to trim the excess paper off the edges of the apples.
- Making apple trees is another fun idea for apple crafts. There are many ways to do this. For an easy painted apple tree, have the kids paint a tree trunk onto a piece of paper with brown paint. Then paint their hands with green paint and make three or four handprints at the top of the trunk to make the leaves of the apple trees. Add red circles, either painted or cut out of red paper and glued on, and you a have cute handprint apple tree. You can also use green paints to sponge paint a paper plate. Then staple or glue a brown tree trunk to the bottom and glue red apple shapes to the painted plate for another apple tree craft idea.
