- 1). Use sandpaper to remove the wood finish. Rent an industrial sander for larger stained areas, which are available at most local rental equipment companies. Wear a ventilator mask and safety glasses to protect your eyes and lungs from the dust and chemical fumes.
- 2). Mix the proper amount of powdered oxalic acid and water. Carefully follow the instructions on the label, and mix in a well-ventilated area. Soak rags in the oxalic acid/water mixture using a gloved hand. Place a rag on all areas of the stain, and allow it to soak for an hour. Check the stain, and reapply if it is still visible. The oxalic acid on the rag will eventually bleach the stain away. Neutralize the acid by wiping the area with white vinegar, and allow it to completely dry for an hour.
- 3). Stain with a matching wood floor stain. Add a clear coat sealant once the stain has dried. Allow the label recommended drying time for the sealant before allowing foot traffic on the refinished area.
- 1). Sand the stained portion of the floor using sandpaper or an industrial sander. Try not to sand too deeply.
- 2). Mix ½ cup white vinegar with one bucket warm water. Scrub the stains thoroughly. The white vinegar will help get rid of the odors associated with pet urine.
- 3). Spray the stained area with an enzyme remover. This will make it impossible for a pet to detect a marked urine spot. You can find this type of product at Walmart. Pat the area dry with paper towels.
- 4). Stain the floor with a matching wood floor product and finish with a clear coat sealant. Dry for recommended time on the label before using the refinished floor.
