- 1). Find a picture you like of a Geisha online using a royalty-free website -- like iStockphoto.com or freedigitalphotos.com -- so that you can download the image for free or for a small fee. Enlarge the image if necessary. Print out the picture of the Geisha you've chosen.
- 2). Cut around the outline of the image of the Geisha carefully with a pair of scissors.
- 3). Choose a sheet of colored card or hand-crafted paper which complements the image of your Geisha. Use pastel-colored textured paper for example, or floral paper with an Asian feel that would go nicely with the Japanese theme.
- 4). Measure a rectangle shape out of your sheet of cards or paper with a pencil and ruler that is big enough to frame the Geisha image. Center the Geisha image on top of the paper and glue it.
- 5). Personalize your bookmark by writing a greeting on it in Japanese-style letters. Punch a hole through the top or bottom of the bookmark with a hole puncher and tie a satin ribbon or silk tassel through the punched hole to complete the Geisha paper doll bookmark.
- 1). Refer to an image of a Geisha to help you create your paper collage paper doll bookmark.
- 2). Cut out a rectangle shape the size of a standard bookmark, which should be 2 inches wide and 6 inches long, from a sheet of your chosen paper.
- 3). Take a sheet of black paper or a thin black card and draw the outline shape of a Geisha's hairstyle, which looks like a bun sitting on top of another bun. (Trace the outline off of an image, if you can't draw.) Cut out the hairstyle shape and put it aside for later.
- 4). Cut a face shape out of white-, cream- or lemon-colored paper. Leave blank or draw in two curved lines for the eyebrows and a black dot for the eyes to keep it simple. Draw in a pair of full lips and color in red with a red marker pen.
- 5). Choose a sheet of gift paper which has an ornate pattern on it. Draw or trace the outline shape of the Geisha's kimono and cut it out.
- 6). Arrange the hair, face and kimono shape onto the plain bookmark. Using glue, glue each of the parts down to complete your Geisha paper doll bookmark.
- 1). Open a new Word document. Set your page layout via the custom menu to create a paper size equivalent to a standard-sized bookmark.
- 2). Search through your clip art program for a Geisha image and select it. Click and drag it to your page. Re-size it if necessary by dragging the arrows on the editing frame of the clip art image.
- 3). Type the recipient's name, a greeting or a verse on your bookmark, if desired.
- 4). Print your computer designed bookmark.
- 5). Cut the bookmark out and frame it on a slightly larger sheet of handcrafted paper. Personalize the bookmark with ribbons or decorative craft items to finish.
