- 1). Place the tank on the frame so that the tabs at the front and rear of the tank for the bolts line up with the bolt holes in the frame. The tank is held on with two bolts.
- 2). Prop the rear of the tank up with a tool so that there is enough room to allow your hands to work under the tank. Slide the fuel line onto the petcock/fuel shut off valve that is fastened to the bottom of the left side of the tank.
- 3). Squeeze the hose clamp with a pair of pliers and pull the clamp into position so that it holds the fuel line onto the metal fuel tube on the petcock.
- 4). Slide the overflow gas line onto the metal tube on the bottom of the tank with the pliers. Slide the breather hose onto the smaller metal tube on the bottom of the tank with the pliers. Neither of these hoses use a hose clamp.
- 5). Remove the tool that was used to prop up the tank. Thread in the front bolt and tighten it with a 12-mm socket and ratchet. You will need to use a 6-inch extension on the socket to reach the front bolt, which installs in the center of the front of the tank.
- 6). Thread in the rear bolt and tighten it with the socket and ratchet. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
