- You need a few basic tools and materials to get you started. A pair of needle nose pliers and wire cutters or scissors are the only tools you'll need. To make the basic necklace you'll need Tiger's Tail jewelry wire, a lobster claw clasp set, two jump rings and two crimping beads. Now comes the fun part: choose your beads. You'll need one large center bead and enough smaller beads to run the length of your necklace on either side. You can mix these beads with metal, stone or other materials to break up the pattern. You can get all of these materials from a craft or bead store or online.
- Take one end of the Tiger's Tail and run it through a crimping bead and one jump ring. Run it back through the crimping bead so that it forms a loop holding the jump ring. Squeeze the crimping bead with the pliers to hold it in place. Before stringing the beads, lay them out in the pattern you like with the large bead in the center. Keep experimenting until you get the look you want. String the beads on the open end of the Tiger's Tail making sure the large bead is centered.
- When you have the necklace the way you want it, repeat the process of attaching the jump ring to the Tiger's Tail on the other side. Gently open the jump rings with the pliers to attach the ends of the claps and close the rings. Add a drop of super glue to the joints of the rings and let them dry for more security.
